Christian Astronaut Victor Glover Ensures Space Station Ready for Next Generation

Do heavy objects carry the same weight in space as they do on earth?

Astronauts Kate Rubins and Victor Glover answered this question when they attached portions of 6 new solar panels to the outside of the International Space Station on Sunday.

Their 7-hour spacewalk took longer than anticipated, but the views captured in this video from AP are worth it.

Former NASA employee Bettina Inclán shared a photo of Glover 2 years prior to him embarking on this lifechanging mission.

Rubins and Glover are now among 18 astronauts newly assigned to NASA’s Artemis moon-landing program. The next moonwalkers will come from this group, the Associated Press reports.

Glover captured the attention of the faith community as he prepped for his 6 month stay at the ISS, becoming the first Black to live full time at the station, and bringing communion and his Bible to the station, with plans to watch his home church’s livestream on Sunday mornings.

In a call with Vice President Kamala Harris, he continued his encouragement to the next generation of astronauts, saying, “We want to make sure that we can continue to do new things.”
