Why Prayer Matters, Even When God Already Knows Everything

Lysa TerKeurst of Proverbs 31 Ministries asked Pastor Craig Groeschel if prayer really matters, because it seems like God has already made up His mind.

“Even as a pastor, and I’ve been in ministry for a long time, there are times when I ask myself that,” Groeschel says. “Like, ‘Does this really matter?’ It seems like whatever is going to happen tends to happen. God’s going to do whatever He wants anyway. [But] I think it matters for a lot of reasons. Our faith does touch the heart of God, and it honors God.

“Like, if a little child, if one of my children asks me for something, even if I’m going to say no because I know it’s not in my child’s best interest, their faith touches me. Also, if they’re not asking and I’m not responding and we’re not communicating, we don’t really have a relationship.”
