WATCH: Pastor Surrenders Political Career, Public Influence—But God’s Power Still Displayed

Rob McCoy, pastor of Godspeak Calvary Chapel in Ventura, California, formerly served on the Thousand Oaks City Council until resigning last spring. The reason for his resignation? His conviction to hold Communion in his church, following CDC guidelines but defying Gov. Gavin Newsom’s even more restrictive ones. By surrendering his political career and place of public influence for his Christian principles, however, the pastor has seen the power of God at work.

Within days of his resignation, thousands began to flock to the Godspeak sanctuary, which has a 400-seat capacity, and it took more than three hours to serve Communion that first Sunday because of the amount of people present. Despite the possibility of facing fines and even arrest, McCoy stood his ground and eventually saw all fines dropped. In response to this, he said, “I’ll see the inside of a jail cell before you’re going to see a dime of that money.”

Jeff Struss, Charisma content director, shares more of the story in this Charisma Video News report.
