Francis Chan Says to Spirit-Filled Believers: This Is Our Duty, Honor

Francis Chan, whose visa request to return to Hong Kong was recently rejected, addresses a divided church in this compelling appeal to the body of Christ. “What’s crazy and terrible about [this division] is that Jesus Christ Himself prayed that we would become perfectly one, just like the Father and Son are perfectly one” he says.

Leafing through pages of Scripture, Chan reveals the very words of Jesus recorded throughout the Gospels and the overwhelming emphasis He placed on unity. “Our believability is going to be based upon our unity,” Chan reinforces.

“This is not just a good idea … This is sacred,” he says. “As we fight for truth, and we fight for holiness, we also fight for the unity of the faith.

“God wants oneness, and He wants us to be eager to maintain that oneness,” he continues. “Do you understand that if we say we are a part of the body of Christ, do you realize how sacred it is? … That is such a sacred honor.

“There are some of you who have the Spirit in you,” says Chan in this passionate plea, “I mean God dwelling in you, so how would I dare treat you with disrespect? How would I dare divide myself from you?”
