John Kilpatrick: If I’d Known My Word Would Go Viral, I Wouldn’t Have Spoken in Tongues

Preacher John Kilpatrick’s impassioned cry to pray for President Donald Trump went viral last week. One week later, he addressed the viral video to his congregation, saying he was as surprised as anyone by the response. He said if he knew the video was going to make headlines, he wouldn’t have spoken in tongues—but not because he’s ashamed of speaking in tongues. “The Lord evidently wanted this out, tongues and all. Because I would have omitted the tongues because, you know, I’m a Pentecostal preacher. I’m a revivalist. I speak in tongues. I’m not ashamed of it at all. But if I was going to release something like that, I wouldn’t release that for the world to look in and see that, because they don’t understand that kind of stuff. But I would’ve released the same word. But I’d just take some of that out.”

Watch his comments for yourself. Kilpatrick begins speaking about 39 minutes into the video.
