What We Learn From Prophets and Apostles

Share:

God has imparted great power and anointing upon His servants. Throughout history, both prophets and apostles have been instrumental in ministering the glory of God in the earth. From prophetic words of favor and warning to miracles of healing and deliverance, they are sought out as holy men and women of God.

Huldah

During the reign of King Josiah, Israel underwent a great revival. The king had ordered the destruction of all idols and traces of idol worship throughout the land. As the people went out to obey the king, Shaphan the scribe and Hilkiah the priest came upon “a book of the law of the Lord given by Moses” (2 Chron. 34:14b, NASB). Because the people had been so far from God for so long, they didn’t know what to do with the book. When King Josiah became aware of the discovery, he commanded the priest and the scribe to go and inquire of the Lord concerning the book and what it meant (v. 21).

There was only one person in Judah whom the two men knew to turn to, one they knew could hear from God and interpret the words in the book—Huldah, the prophetess:

“And Hilkiah, and they that the king had appointed, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college:) and they spake to her to that effect. And she answered them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel” (2 Chron. 34:22-23, KJV).

This account is repeated in 2 Kings 22, but within this story is the only time we see Huldah mentioned. She was sought out at a critical time in Israel’s history, and she had the ears to hear God. Israel experienced a great turnaround under Josiah’s leadership, and it was because the glory and favor of God rested on this woman prophet who could deliver the word of the Lord in a critical hour.

Joseph

Joseph was sought out to interpret Pharaoh’s dream. He went from prison to the palace. His gift made room for him. He was promoted in the kingdom as a result.

“Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it. And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace” (Gen. 41:14–16).

What gifts do you have? What talents and abilities do you possess? People in need will seek you out. Gifts are lying dormant in your belly that will cause you to be sought out! Stir them up and be faithful to grow in them.

Jesus Was Sought Out

Jesus was always sought out. The multitudes sought Him out for teaching, healing and deliverance.

Jesus was sought out by the wise men at His birth (Matt. 2:1–12). Jesus was sought out by Nicodemus, who came by night (John 3:2). Jesus was sought out by a woman of Canaan for deliverance of her daughter (Matt. 15:22). Many sought Jesus as they came to the feasts in Jerusalem. They came to Jerusalem to see Him and hear His teaching.

The Greeks also sought after Jesus (John 12:20–21). This is a picture of strangers and foreigners coming to seek you out.

You Will Be Sought Out

Isaiah Chapter 60 is a prophecy that shows us what happens when we are sought out. The results are amazing and wonderful.

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising” (Isa. 60:1–3).

People are drawn to light. They come because of light and glory. You are sought out when there is light and glory in your life. It is time for you to arise from a low place and come up to a high place.

Those living in darkness come to those who have light. God wants you to shine with His glory. This is why you will be sought out. Glory becomes a magnet that attracts people to you. They are attracted to your ministry, your business and your calling and gifting. They are attracted to the blessing upon your life.

“Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee” (Isa. 60:4–5).

If your ministry is barren, without authentic sons and daughters, you may need to get back to the glory. You may need to dig some old wells again or strike the ground to break open new ones. When you get the glory manifesting, you will see an increase. Sons and daughters will surround you to worship with you, build with you and advance with you. You will go from pleading to being sought out.

I am praying that God will raise up sought-out places of glory, sought-out places of healing and delivering power, sought-out places of family and love, sought-out places of mercy and forgiveness, and sought-out places of power and advancement. {eoa}
