Prophetic Word: Embrace Your Limp as You Celebrate Passover During This Pandemic

Share:

As we approach Passover while we stand in the midst of a pandemic, God is inviting us to embrace the revelation of Christ as our Passover. It was during the last plague in Egypt where we received a powerful insight to the power of the blood of the Lamb. It was the blood of the lamb covering the door post of the houses that caused death to pass by all the firstborn in Egypt as the God of Israel hovered over them. It was the death of a lamb that became the exit door out of Egyptian bondage, which was an ultimate picture of the blood and death of the Lamb of God who brought the greatest exodus of all of time.

The story of Jacob has a powerful link to Passover that is a key to understanding the power of Passover. As Jacob is alone at the brook of Jabbok (the place of emptying) in Genesis 32, he wrestles with a man. It was at the breaking of day that when Jacob would not let go of the man (pre-incarnate Christ), Jacob is touched in the hollow of his hip and begins to limp. Jacob goes from wrestling to embracing because of his limp.

It was at the place of his breaking that he gets a name change from Jacob (heel catcher) to Israel (Prince, rule with God). Jacob limped into a new day as the light of morning broke in which is a prophetic indication of what is in store for the body of Christ during this Passover season. The Hebrew word for Passover is “pesach” and derives from “pasach,” which means “to pass over, skip, dance or limp over.” It was at Peniel (face-to-face) where Jacob limped into a new day and it is in the decade of His face where we will break into a new day as we pass over from contending with God to embracing Him.
