How Trump Has Kept His Pro-Life Promises

One of the highlights of Trump’s speech was his strong emphasis on pro-life values. “There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days,” Trump said. “Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments from birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and their dreams with the world. And then we had the case of the governor of Virginia, where he stated he would execute a baby after birth.”

The president didn’t stop there. He then boldly called members of Congress to action, encouraging them to outlaw this insane and barbaric law.

“To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb,” he said. “Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: All children—born and unborn—are made in the holy image of God.”

Of course Trump didn’t address only the horrors of abortion. He called on Congress to protect America’s workers, to end the human sex trafficking spread through illegal immigration and to protect our freedom by rejecting the seductive evils of socialism. He once more reiterated his determination to build a wall on our southern border. But above all, he called the country to unity—to work hard toward the common goal of growth and safety.

After the speech Franklin Graham tweeted: “Thank you @POTUS @ realDonaldTrump for covering the priorities of our nation so clearly in tonight’s State of the Union address. It is my prayer that all Americans would support working together in a bipartisan way to solve the problems we face.”

CBN’s David Brody called the speech the most pro-life State of the Union address ever. “No other President . . . has ever been so bold in their words describing the national immoral horror and impact of late-term abortion,” Brody tweeted.

Paula White Cain believes Donald Trump is “absolutely the most pro-life president” because of his defunding all foreign abortions, defunding Planned Parenthood and being the first sitting president to ever actually address the March for Life.

Mark Levin told Pastor John Hagee during an interview on Life, Liberty & Levin that Trump’s position “on life versus abortion” has surprised him. “It has been very consistent. It’s been solid.” Another promise kept. Hagee told Levin he appreciates Trump’s stand because “in the Bible, killing a baby in the womb of the mother is murder. We don’t consider it a woman’s right to murder a child. And we, as Evangelicals, oppose abortion, and feel like that anyone that does . . . , if they do not repent of that sin, will face God in the judgment [and have] to account for that. Because that’s a very, very serious evil.” {eoa}
