How Science, Sonograms, Scripture Confirm Unborn Babies Are Not Mere ‘Blobs’

Share:

At a recent pro-abortion rally, a number of feminists huddled together wearing T-shirts declaring, “My Body. My Choice.” Emblazoned on their placard were the words: “PARASITES DON’T HAVE RIGHTS.”

At another rally upholding the sanctity of life, a young girl carried a sign that read: “IF MY MOM DIDN’T CARE—I MIGHT NOT BE HERE—THANKS, MOM!

Abortion is not primarily a religious or feminist issue; it is a human issue! Protecting the life of a developing baby in the womb should be the concern of every compassionate person committed to social justice.

The problem: Scores struggle to believe the tiny person forming inside mom is biological life. They say, “fetus”, unaware that the Latin word refers to the humanity of preborn life not merely a blob of tissue. Ironically, they still speak of a “baby bump” or ask “When is the baby due?”

When the Supreme Court ruled on abortion in1973, Justice Blackmun based his opinion on the practice of pre-Christian Roman law which allowed abortion. He admitted that “Greek and Roman law afforded little protection to the unborn” as well as the newly born since Roman law also permitted infanticide.

Because the door to exterminate developing babies (with all DNA present) opened, acceptance and legalization of infanticide looms on the horizon. It’s already happening unless we stop what biology and the Bible make crystal clear.

Compromise or Conviction?

Barack Obama was asked in his 2008 campaign for president, “When does human life begin?”

He ducked the question with, “That’s above my pay grade.” He also stated that he opposed same-sex marriage which his senior adviser, David Axelrod, admitted was a lie.

Civil rights leader and two-time presidential candidate, Rev. Jesse Jackson, told us, “I was born out of wedlock and against the advice that my mother received from her doctor. Abortion is a personal issue for me. From my perspective, human life is the highest good, the summon bonum. Human life itself is the highest human good, and God is the supreme good because He is the giver of life. That is my philosophy. Everything I do proceeds from that religious and philosophical premise. Life is the highest good and therefore you fight for life, using means consistent with that end. Life is the highest human good not on its own naturalistic merits, but because life is supernatural, a gift from God.”

Jesse wrote an “Open Letter to Congress” saying, “as a matter of conscience I must oppose the use of federal funds for a policy of killing infants.”

Today, both Obama and Jackson support abortion.

What happened?

They, like countless politicians and Supreme Court justices, compromise convictions for political gain. They one day will give an account to God for the millions of innocent destroyed babies.

Celine Dion, one of this generation’s most honored singers, was one of over 10 children who allegedly could have been aborted. A Catholic priest who had a strong conviction regarding protecting babies in the womb intercepted the counsel given her mother regarding abortion and saved her life. Imagine the loss along with over 60 million others never given their “right to life.”

What Do Biologists Believe?

A Ph.D. candidate at the University of Chicago recently invested five years on his dissertation inquiring of thousands of scientists in the field of biology for their scholarly judgment on when life begins. With today’s advanced technology, Stephen Jacobs groundbreaking study revealed the overwhelming majority concur that human life begins at conception.

Imagine, 90% of those who acknowledge they were “pro-life” answered that life begins at conception. Yet nearly 75% of “pro-choice” respondents answered the same way!

As you may suspect, Jacobs encountered strong backlash to his findings. Attempts were made to sabotage his study. Publishing his empirical data damaged his standing in academia.

This man of conviction, who cares deeply about unborn babies, persevered in defending his dissertation and was finally awarded his Ph.D.

Sonograms Say It All

I have in my possession the stunning 1965 Life magazine photographs by Leonard Nilsson revealing in no uncertain terms that each new human life begins at fertilization. Today, almost 60 years later, advanced sonogram technology makes the case stronger than ever!

The reason Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups work aggressively to prevent expectant mothers from seeing their babies via sonogram is because they realize that currently, 75% of women viewing an ultrasound of their unborn baby decide against abortion.

If you go to Savethestorks.com you will find amazing information on preborn babies in the womb showing life beginning at fertilization. Since “a picture is worth a thousand words,” viewing embryonic, fetal and infant stages is now a jaw-dropping experience.

I vividly remember our first baby, who recently turned 40, when he was tucked away comfortably in my wife’s tummy. We celebrated occasions as we noticed his kicking and turning movements before our very eyes. We knew this was not merely a blob of tissue moving about like a jellyfish but rather a living, thriving human being getting ready for his entrance into the world!

The Authority of Scripture

The Bible is the most-read and bestselling book in the history of mankind. And what does it reveal about what is moving about in a mother’s womb when she is pregnant?

• “When Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb” (Luke 1:41a).

• “You brought my inner parts into being; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for You made me with fear and wonder; marvelous are Your works, and You know me completely” (Ps. 139:13-14).

• “The Lord hates … hands that shed innocent blood” (Prov. 6:16b-17).

One of our greatest presidents, Ronald Reagan, wrote Abortion and the Conscience of a Nation. In it, he said, “Make no mistake, abortion on demand is not a right granted by the Constitution. No serious scholar, including one disposed to agree with the court’s result, has argued that the framers of the Constitution intended to create such a right.”

Here’s the deal: Jesus told us, “Truly I say to you, as you have done it for one of the least of these … you have done it for Me” (Matt. 25:40). Science, sonograms and Scripture all concur these are living, breathing, developing babies in the womb and we are commanded to protect and prepare a place for them in this world.

“I am dedicated to spending the rest of my life undoing the law that bears my name” — Norma McCorvey, “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade.
