Did Phil Robertson Miss It With ISIS ‘Convert Them or Kill Them’ Stance?

After the second brutal beheading of an American journalist by ISIS, Sean Hannity asked Phil Robertson to weigh in on the rise of radical Islam on Fox News. I was drawn in. Maybe it’s Robertson’s shocking “hippie-like” appearance. Even more, maybe it was his dog-eared, worn Bible that he boldly set on the desk between him and his host that drew me in. I have to admit, when he pulled out his Bible bookmarker, the Declaration of Independence, I grinned.

On the show, Sean Hannity pointed to the obvious evil of our time and asked Robertson, “How should we deal with it?”

Robertson opened his Bible on Fox News and read these Scriptures:

  • 1 John 5:19: “The whole world lies in the power of the evil one.”
  • Ephesians 2:2: “The evil one works in those who are disobedient.”
  • Galatians 3:3: “We are all prisoners of sin.”
  • 2 Timothy 2:26: “They are held captive by Satan to do his will.”
  • Proverbs 8: “Whoever finds wisdom, finds life and receives favor from the Lord, but whoever fails to find me harms himself. And all who hate me love death.”

He added: “Why is it when we’re not even over there in the Middle East, why do they continue to slaughter each other? In this case you have to convert them, which I think would be next to impossible, I’m not giving up on them, I’m just saying convert them or kill them. One or the other.”

Hannity asked Robertson why so many people view him as controversial, and he quoted the words of Jesus, and said if they hated Jesus who never did one thing wrong, they will hate us, too.

Here’s an American who’s stood up to a storm from media and the far left over his remarks on morality, but really doesn’t give a flip if his popular show lives or dies.  In fact, he told Hannity, “Fame cannot remove your sin, and all the money you can amass cannot raise you from the dead. Obamacare won’t keep you out of the ground.”

Imagine that? He explained the free gift of salvation to the non-Christians, but he is leading Christians as well—Christians who are used to getting their wisdom from a pulpit or program, not a long-haired good old boy from the South. And let’s face it, in this day of rampant evil and global persecution against Christians, we need a leader like Robertson who tells it like it is.

Can you tell I’m intrigued? I may even invest in his new book, UnPHILtered: The Way I See It.

Listen to the show yourself and hear Robertson’s answer to the evil of our time—how should we deal with it?

I’d love to hear what you think. Don’t be shy. Leave a comment below.
