On the eve of March for Life 2015, the first-ever OneVoiceDC Prayer Gathering brought together pro-life faith leaders in an ecumenical worship setting—with a great diversity of generations, ethnicities and worship styles represented.

Despite travel issues that weather created for some, many hundreds of believers from across the nation came to be a part.

The big day had arrived, after weeks of preparation and promotion by many.

The prayer gathering began with worship, and quick introductions from the principal leaders behind OneVoiceDC: Ryan and Bethany Bomberger (The Radiance Foundation), Dean Nelson (Online for Life) and Matt Lockett (Bound4LIFE).

It’s inherently difficult to “live tweet” a prayer meeting, as participants in the room are joining with the words and faith of the person leading prayer. Yet some attempted.

The volume of Twitter traffic increased as Dr. Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr., began her prayers—followed by a host of faith leaders from across the pro-life movement.

The believers present engaged deeply during times of worship—which mixed gospel, praise ballads and modern rhythms.

With Darrian Summerville providing guidance, a host of worship leaders from across the capital region jointly directed those gathered in offering songs to honor Father God. Music transitioned to prayers for healing, and a celebration of pro-life victories.

Ryan Bomberger and the other co-leaders wrapped up the evening, encouraging all to continue to pray and advocate for a culture of life; Bishop Harry Jackson gave a final benediction for the prayer gathering.
