At 10 years old, Imran’s parents died. The Pakistani cried often, lonely and filled with sadness. When a Jesus Film Harvest Partners team visited Imran’s village with the EvangeCube, the 20-year-old finally felt comfort.

“The way the team member shared the Word of God comforted me,” Imran explained. “He said Jesus knows when we are happy and when we are sad. Jesus is always with us. Jesus said ‘I am with you always even into the end of the world.’ Hearing this I realized I am not alone when Jesus is with me.

“Now whenever I miss my parents I pray to Jesus and I find the same love from Him that my parents had for me. I am thankful the EvangeCube was used to give me hope. It helps people have faith when they are discouraged.”

In the last 12 years, the EvangeCube has gone from “unfolding the answer to life’s greatest puzzle” to encouraging believers to “simply share Jesus.” Now, e3 Resources, a division of e3 Partners, is in the middle of a bold new challenge: “The Power of 12.”

The concept of the witnessing tool developed in 1999 came after Nathan Sheets and Jim Wyatt returned from a short-term missions trip to Haiti. Determined to come up with a simplified way to share the gospel, the pair got the idea of a cube from a marketing piece they got in the mail.

The EvangeCube, about the size of a softball, is made of eight interlocking blocks that flip and fold into the story of Jesus Christ. It shows pictures from the bloodied hands nailed to the cross to the Resurrection and personal salvation.

Now, 12 years later, the ministry is challenging 1 million Christians to use the EvangeCube to share the gospel with one new person each month for a year until Dec. 12, 2012. That’s a small fraction of the 2 billion Christians worldwide. The ultimate goal is to reach 12 million people with the gospel.

“Instead of waiting for people to come to church to share Jesus with them, we need to go out to their homes and markets and share Jesus with them, face-to-face, personally,” said David, of e3 Partners.

Why 12? The number, which represents perfection, is the product of three (a heavenly and perfectly divine number) and four (which symbolizes the earth, what is material and organic. Twelve also has prominent usages throughout the Bible: the 12 sons (tribes) of Israel; 12 judges; 12 gates; 12 disciples; and Jesus was 12 years of age when he spoke his first recorded words.

The second step to the “Power of 12” challenge asks believers to document their experience and share it with e3—to send in photos, videos and stories of their eCube experience to excite, encourage and invite others to join the team.

These pictures and stories will become the examples of what it is to live “The Power of 12.” On Dec. 12, 2012, the images will become a photo collage that creates Jesus’ face, showing how it takes all of us to make a difference.

E3 says the challenge is about more than just numbers or an event. It’s a call for a spiritual lifestyle change. “It’s being the face of Jesus everyday—sharing His love while sharing His story,” the website says.
