Even though Joe Biden claims to be a “good Catholic,” his policies are anything but Christian. He supports the most extreme policies on abortion up to birth, and he lights up the White House with rainbow colors to honor the LGBTQ community.
But when he declared Transgender Awareness Day on Mar. 31, Easter Sunday, that was beyond the pale. Even Pope Francis chimed in by reiterating that the Roman Catholic Church considers it a sin to alter one’s sex and negates how God created them. If you have any spiritual sensitivity, you know that we must pray as never before because of this and other examples that are evidence of spiritual warfare for the soul of our nation, which I discussed on the recent episode of my Strang Report podcast which you can watch here.

Other examples include the recent demonstrations by pro-Palestinian Muslims in Michigan chanting “Death to America.” There were and are anti-Israel chants at the U.S. capitol, as well as new examples of woke policies endangering our religious freedoms. One of the latest is a policy in Washington state that prevented a school girl from forming an interfaith prayer club in school.
Examples like this of liberal, leftist and anti-God things destroying our culture are not new. I’ve seen them in my long journalistic career. But things seem to be getting worse. And there seems to be a tipping point where the woke crowd is winning pivotal elections and imposing laws that make life difficult if you are a conservative and especially a Christian.
But I believe that there is power in prayer. Non-believers and especially those antagonistic to the things of God will never admit this, or they ridicule it as a powerless religious activity at best or superstition at worst. But we know God answers prayer and as bad as things are many are coming to Christ. People are still hungry for God and I see signs of people turning to God partly because the culture is getting so dark. Many churches are booming despite these trends, and evangelists like Mario Murillo say the response at his crusades is more than even in the Jesus movement 50 years ago.
Serving God has never been easy. Christians have been persecuted throughout history and are still persecuted today. The enemy of our souls wants to destroy every believer. One of his main tools is to discourage us.
I sense many Christians are discouraged by how divided the nation is and the new woke culture that calls good evil and evil good. It used to be Christians could avoid these ungodly influences, but no more. It seems to be everywhere now–even coming from the White House.

This isn’t about politics. While I’m grateful that Donald Trump seems to support Christian values and even said he will declare “Christian Awareness Day” in answer to Biden’s “Transgender Day of Visibility,” this isn’t about praying for Donald Trump. Some of his supporters seem to almost deify him—which isn’t right. Even Tucker Carlson said in a recent Texas speech how the division in our country is due to spiritual warfare.
So why do some Christians vote for Biden? I believe it’s spiritual blindness. Some vote out of habit or they have been offended by some of Trump’s idiosyncrasies and say they will never vote for him. If that’s the case, they should get over it, or stay home on election day rather than support a candidate who is the polar opposite of everything we believe as Christians.
So, what should we do? First, see the seriousness in what’s happening. Educate ourselves on the issues. Don’t just look at the media which is mostly left or far left. Many good conservative news sites provide an alternative including our own charismanews.com.
But mainly we must pray. The Bible says we wrestle not against flesh and blood. This is not a political issue about the direction of our country and the West, it’s spiritual. We pray because we know God answers our prayers. Christians have prayed many times through history and God answered by changing things. Now we must do that again in our generation. Our country is going in the wrong direction. We need God’s intervention. {eoa}
