In a world brimming with spiritual traps set by Satan and his minions, the allure of witchcraft and the occult often casts its shadow upon vulnerable hearts. From ancient times to the modern era, humanity has been drawn to the temptation of forbidden knowledge and supernatural power. However, the Bible provides unwavering guidance on the dangers of such paths and exhorts Christians to engage in spiritual warfare against the devil.
Recently, Charisma Media and guest-host Mondo De La Vega of “The Jim Bakker Show” and “The Mondo Show” held a LIVE Q&A session with Evangelist John Ramirez about the significance of spiritual warfare, and the dangers lurking in the spiritual realm.
The Bible is unequivocal in its stance against witchcraft and the occult. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 warns, “There must not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or who uses divination, or uses witchcraft, or an interpreter of omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts spells, or a spiritualist, or an occultist, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God will drive them out from before you.” God’s Word identifies these practices as abominations that lead people away from the worship of the true God.
“The devil understands one thing: [his] time is short,” explains Ramirez. “He has a timeline… The devil is not ashamed of showing his true colors today to TV, social media, in schools brainwashing the little ones.
“But the church has to wake up and take up a position to fight the good fight for the little ones; and the ones in politics; and the ones in Hollywood.”
The appeal of the occult often lies in the promise of power, secret knowledge and control over unseen forces. However, these enticements are but deceptive traps set by the enemy to ensnare souls. The apostle Paul cautions in 2 Corinthians 11:14, “And no wonder! For even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” The enemy disguises his malevolent intentions behind enticing facades, deceiving many into embracing darkness while believing they are following the light.
Questions flooded De La Vega and Ramirez about the spiritual ramifications of trinkets and idols which many claimed that people they know carry around with them, and if these were part of the occult and witchcraft practices gripping society today.
Ramirez did not hesitate on answering the question: “That’s the occult. That’s witchcraft. They may have done a ritual or a ceremony with it. Maybe they took [the item] to the witch doctors or the warlocks. They use [the items] to claim, with the demonic powers behind it,” Ramirez says.
“They buy the person’s personality. They buy the person’s character, and they infiltrate the person’s lives so they could draw the person back like a bungee cord.”
Recognizing the peril of witchcraft and the occult, Christians are called to engage in spiritual warfare against the devil and his schemes. Ephesians 6:12 declares, “For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” This spiritual battle demands vigilant prayer, unwavering faith and the armor of God to stand firm against the devil’s tactics.
“If you don’t take a stand and fight, and fight the good fight, and stand in proxy for your family and let the Holy Spirit break those things completely…you are not even breathing, you must be a corpse,” Ramirez declares.
The dangers of witchcraft and the occult are not to be taken lightly. Scripture urges believers to recognize the enemy’s strategies and to engage in spiritual warfare against the forces of darkness. Armed with the armor of God and fortified by prayer, Christians can confront the allure of forbidden practices and instead shine as beacons of light, guiding others toward the true source of power and salvation—Jesus Christ. {eoa}
