Asbury Revival Captured in New Documentary

RedeemTV is making a splash with their latest film, which documents the outpouring of the Holy Spirit during the Asbury revival.

Asbury Revival: Desperate for More” was filmed during the revival to provide viewers first-hand accounts of what took place during the 16-day event. The film’s trailer begins with one simple question that launched the movement: “What will be the ripple effect of 20 people staying after chapel service?”

For this project, the donor-supported RedeemTV paired up with independent film company 1 Voice Films to share the story of how one chapel service started a nationwide phenomenon.

The film’s producer, Chris Rogers, shared in a press release about the monumental impact the revival had on him. “Being in Wilmore, Kentucky at Asbury, in the middle of the outpouring, was one of the highlights of my life and film making career,” Rogers said. “I prayed to be involved with revival for years and suddenly I found myself in the middle of a great work with the Holy Spirit all around me. It’s hard to give it words, but I knew that God was present in a way I never felt before.”

One of the themes described in the documentary was how the Holy Spirit was satisfying the spiritual hunger so many had entered in there with.

“People are hungry to really experience God,” a student said in the video trailer. Another person shared how God put a similar message on his wife’s heart where she felt the Lord say, “I feed hungry people.”

The Asbury revival has already touched the lives of millions of people across the nation. It quickly became known throughout the country as students shared on social media their testimonies of how they were transformed by God from the inside out. While there has been much debate about the use of TikTok recently, the media platform was used greatly throughout the revival as students described their experiences of spending day-after-day in the chapel on the Asbury University campus.

The fire of the revival has already spread across the nation to other cities, including on secular college campuses. While not all Christians have agreed that what happened at Asbury was a legitimate revival, people were healed, students felt the chains of anxiety and depression lose their grip and honest repentance before the Lord took place, which undoubtedly sounds like revival.
