Are All Dreams From God?

Do all dreams come from God? While many Christians may see this as controversial, believing that many dreams are from the demonic realm or from their own soulish elements, Christian dream interpreter John Redenbo believes that contrary to this common opinion, Scripture points to all dreams being from God.

“Dreams are the love language of God to His children,” Redenbo says.

According to Redenbo, after years of seeking the Lord’s wisdom and guidance about how dreams work and where they come from, he has yet to find something in Scripture that backs the idea of dreams from being from anyone other than God.

“All the dreams in the Bible, all the verses on dreams, and you know what I found?” Redenbo asks. “There are zero demonic dreams. In fact, there’s zero actual theological basis. I have it to the point that I now believe that the devil doesn’t even have the technology to read our minds, let alone to create a movie crawl into our head at night and make us see in our unconscious mind while we’re sleeping.”

Redenbo also points to Ecclesiastes for dreams that come from our soul.

“Where the mind is troubled, dreams come,” Redenbo says. “You know, if I have a bad day at work and I come home thinking about work and I go to bed thinking about work, and I dream about work, it’s because that’s where my mind is.”

The only oddity that Redenbo has encountered is the few times where he says some people have had false dreams because of their own manipulation. However, Redenbo says that all genuine dreams come from God and that it is critical for us to write them down.

He says even nightmares are from God, as they can help us to see how the enemy is trying to attack us.

“The demon didn’t give you that dream,” he says. “God gave you that dream. It’s God giving you the intelligence through your eye gate, through the sea or gifting to show you what’s happening in the room.”

Another key to dreams that Redenbo has noticed is usually during seasons of transition, we can have a heightened awareness and insecurity about what is planned next for our lives. We may be in a period of asking, “Did God really say?” making us question the truth behind things that God has planted in our hearts.

“You’re in that place of extreme transition,” he points out. “And all of a sudden you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, what if this is the wrong thing?’ You’re like, ‘Can I pull my offer on the house? Can we not move? Can I get my old job back?’ There’s that moment of ‘What if stepping out in faith is wrong?'”

Having these kinds of issues and decisions on our hearts and minds can impact our dreams while also providing us with the spiritual insight and implications of what is going on below the surface of ourselves. At the end of the day, what’s important is that we don’t ignore the dreams we have. Instead, we must take action and know that God is helping us to understand a grander scale plan for our lives, including as a weapon against the enemy’s playbook.

“We’re going to read Scripture on faith,” Redenbo says. “We’re going to be 100% convinced in every direction we’re taking in any area of life. And we’re going to rebuke the spirit of fear, doubt and unbelief categorically.” {eoa}
