‘Trump Aftershock’ Author Stephen E. Strang: Dividing Line of Immigration Still Runs Deep

Last week, President Donald Trump conducted his first prime-time Oval Office address on the very timely and controversial topic of illegal immigration and the need for a border wall that would keep America safe.

A new AP-NORC poll finds that many Americans have some of the same top concerns as the president, including immigration, which 49 percent said was a top-five problem they hoped the government would address in 2019.

Best-selling author Stephen E. Strang, who recently released his newest book, Trump Aftershock, says voters still resonate with Trump’s “America first” commitment from the campaign trail, and little has changed. In fact, he added, many Americans still want safe borders, despite what mainstream media reports or what celebrities may post on social media.

“Trump administration leaders know that keeping the promise on common-sense immigration policies and a border wall to keep the country secure is paramount—especially to the evangelical voters who put Trump in office,” Strang said. “It’s come to the point where our president may soon need to declare a national emergency to stop drugs and criminals from crossing our border, in part because elected officials can’t agree on how to handle this very real and pressing problem.”

Trump reiterated the human cost of the “growing humanitarian and security crisis” of surging illegal immigration. His speech was followed by a rebuttal from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which “drew seemingly deep lines in the sand while also emphasizing the importance of compromise,” according to Fox News. Republicans and Democrats continued to meet last week to negotiate ending the partial federal government shutdown over border wall funding.

“In his Oval Office address, President Trump was correct about facts regarding how illegal immigration affects many groups of people, including minorities within our country, those affected by dangerous illegal drugs such as heroin flowing into the U.S. from Mexico, and the many women who are sexually assaulted during the dangerous trek,” Strang said.

“President Trump also correctly pointed out that Chuck Schumer has supported a ‘physical barrier’ along the border in the past, along with many other Democrats,” he added. “And that border is warranted, as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has made well over a quarter of a million arrests of illegals with criminal records over the past two years. Some had been charged with assault, sex crimes or violent killings.”

Trump Aftershock explores the “president’s seismic impact on culture and faith in America” and uncovers unreported facts while objectively helping readers understand what the nation’s most unlikely and unconventional president has accomplished.

Stephen E. Strang is the best‐selling author of God and Donald Trump. The CEO and founder of Charisma Media, Strang was voted by Time magazine as one of the most influential evangelicals in America. He has traveled to more than 50 countries, has interviewed four U.S. presidents and has been featured on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, CBN, Dr. James Dobson’s “Family Talk” and The Daily Caller.
