Trump Tweet: President Asks the Question Everybody Else Is Asking

Following his election last November, President Donald Trump suggested it might be in the nation’s best interests to simply let his opponent’s potential criminal activities go for the sake of unity to push through his agenda.

Now nearly eight months into the alleged “Russia Narrative” that Democrats have used to explain away their resounding defeat at the hands of the president and the Republican Party, it seems he has had enough. And, in a tweet Monday morning, he asked the question everyone else has been asking for nearly a year:

So why aren’t the Committees and investigators, and of course our beleaguered A.G., looking into Crooked Hillarys crimes & Russia relations?

As of this writing, the tweet has nearly 36,000 likes in just three hours, and is adding two or three likes per second. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton was among the first to applaud the president’s tweet, writing in a retweet of his own:

Justice Department should reopen, reinvigorate Clinton email investigations.

That’s not a new request from the government watchdog group, which has initiated a number of lawsuits to force the Department of State to release Clinton’s emails.

The president’s question could easily be seen as a very thinly veiled directive to his “beleaguered” attorney general, Jeff Sessions, and before the liberals attempt to label it as something else, such a directive would be entirely legal and appropriate, given the president’s constitutional role to ensure the nation’s laws are faithfully executed.

Sessions just might be inclined to follow through on such a directive. According to a new report, he is sitting on an extremely hot seat. Axios reported Monday morning the president is strongly considering replacing Sessions with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The report states, in part:

President Trump is so unhappy with Attorney General Jeff Sessions that he has raised the possibility of bringing back Rudolph Giuliani to head the Justice Department, according to West Wing confidants.

  • In internal conversations, Trump has recently pondered the idea of nominating Giuliani, a stalwart of his campaign.
  • Even before last week’s blast at Sessions in a New York Times interview, Trump had expressed fury at Sessions—also one of the first prominent Republicans to back the Trump campaign—for recusing himself from the Russia investigation.
  • And in a Monday morning tweet, Trump referred to “our beleaguered A.G.” not investigating Hillary Clinton.

Our thought bubble: Trump often muses about possible personnel moves that he never makes, sometimes just to gauge the listener’s reaction. So the Giuliani balloon may go nowhere.

Or, it could be a not-so-subtle nudge to get an investigation into Clinton rolling at full speed once again. {eoa}
