Dr. Ben Carson Readying to Run for President?

Dr. Ben Carson appears to be running for president. The neurosurgeon-turned-conservative commentator hit the media spotlight at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast when he boldly called out political correctness, health-care issues and the flat tax with President Obama sitting right next to him.

Carson will air a 40-minute paid advertisement called A Breath of Fresh Air: a New Prescription for America that aims to help the American people get to know him better as he prepares his bid for the highest office in the United States.

The video will reportedly share his background, including being raised by a single mother in poverty in Detroit, and how he rose to fame as a pediatric neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins.

Does Carson stand a chance at winning the White House?

That remains to be seen. Here’s what we do know: Carson stood in seventh place with seven percent of the vote in an ABC News/Washington Post poll in October that probed Americans on Republican candidates. Others who may run include Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush.
