The Gay Agenda Will Not Silence Us!

While I am extremely appalled by the decision made by A&E to suspend Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty after he quoted what the Bible says about homosexuality, I am thrilled to see an army of people rising up to his defense.

I find it ridiculous that after being asked what his stance was on homosexuality in a GQ magazine interview, he is now being suspended for voicing his belief. What ever happened to freedom of speech? Oh no, that’s right—that freedom is only granted to the speech watchdogs of the left wing.

Have you noticed that the people who scream for acceptance and tolerance are the most unaccepting and intolerant when an opinion doesn’t mesh with theirs? A&E made a statement on how Phil Robertson’s personal views do not reflect those of A&E. Wasn’t that enough? So who is the bully here?

The Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality is wrong. Our allegiance is to God and His Word, not to whatever popular culture happens to think is right at the time. The gospel of Christ includes the entire Bible, not just the parts that make us feel good, and that gospel does not change. If we take a strong stand on homosexuality, we will come under fire. But if, at the same time, we also open ourselves up to accept with love anyone who will come to the altar of Christ, we will make a difference in many lives. There is a balance that must be found between countering homosexual culture and loving individuals struggling with homosexuality. If we err, let us err on the side of love.

CNN’s journalist Don Lemon, who is a gay man, says, “This is America, but this is what happens when you have true freedom of speech.”

I couldn’t agree more. This is America. We must learn to agree to disagree without ripping away someone’s right because it makes us uncomfortable. We are not talking about being treated equally, because we all must be treated equally. We are talking about unrightfully silencing a group of people in order for another to be heard.

No, you won’t silence the church, for she is alive and thriving!

Janet Boynes is the founder of Janet Boynes Ministries, a nondenominational outreach that ministers to individuals questioning their sexuality and those who wish to leave homosexuality. As the author of Called Out, Boynes chronicles her story of living as a lesbian for 14 years until God called her out of that lifestyle.
