Rosenberg Hits Home with Latest Book

The beginning of Joel C. Rosenberg’s latest book, Implosion: Can America Recover from Its Economic & Spiritual Challenges in Time?, makes dreary forecasts for the future of our country. It’s certainly not for the faint of heart.

Even Rosenberg himself issues a warning to those who dare to read it:

“The first half of the book is a little sobering,” he said. “I tell some people that, if you already believe that America is in trouble, you might want to skip to the second half where there is some hope.”

But, don’t let that caveat deter you from running out to the bookstore and purchasing this one. It’s one that every American should read, and I applaud the New York Times best-selling author for writing it.

Released June 12, Implosion is currently 18th on The New York Times Best-seller List and is sure to make a steady climb up the chart.

Sobering is certainly a great adjective for the first few chapters of this piece of great literature. Rosenberg admits that Implosion was an extremely difficult and even “painful” book for him to write.

Some of his past novels, the majority of which are fiction, took a great deal of time and research, and he said they were works of great undertaking. Books like The Last Jihad, The Ezekiel Option, The Last Days and The Tehran Initiative, dealt mainly with external threats to the United States.

Implosion, however, deals with something very near and dear to Rosenberg’s heart: his country. It deals with internal threats to the United States of America.

Rosenberg gets directly to the heart of the matter in the opening pages: “The stakes are very high. Our nation has come to a critical crossroads. We face the potential implosion of our economy and our society. … Time is of the essence.

Indeed. Our national debt continues to soar toward $16 trillion, and Rosenberg said in his June 28 blog on his website that the “disastrous, appalling” decision by the Supreme Court to uphold the entirety of the Affordable Care Act will “increase the budget deficit by more than $1.15 trillion.”

Unemployment remains high at 8.2 percent through May, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. I personally know several people who are out of work and struggling to get back into the workforce. I was one of those myself recently.

Abortions in this country have topped the 54 million mark since 1973 following Roe v. Wade. Families are, pardon the pun, imploding every day, something that many seem to be apathetic toward. Easy come, easy go.

The United States’ relationship with Israel appears to be strained at best. Rosenberg said the relationship between President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister is further apart than any two leaders of those countries in history.

I am in agreement with Rosenberg when he says, “If we turn our back on Israel, then we’re in for a world of trouble.” Our current administration should think about that one.

Although some may disagree (myself not included), the Bible doesn’t specifically mention or reference the United States as a player in the last days in Revelation. That may be due to the fact that the U.S. has imploded, and has been reduced to third-world country status. That’s something that many people simply don’t want to hear.

The solution? There are no fixer-upper solutions, and there are no guarantees. But, once again, I am in agreement with Mr. Rosenberg. There have been two “Great Awakenings” or revivals, previously in this country. One came in the 1700s and the other in the 1800s. A Third Great Awakening is really the only thing that can save this country.

“We need to get down on our knees and beg, no, plead for God’s mercy right now,” Rosenberg said. “We need to repent and turn our focus to Him.”

Truer words were never spoken. Pick up Rosenberg’s book and read it. Along with Jonathan Cahn’s The Harbinger, it is a major wake-up call for our great nation.
