Today is the National Day of Prayer in the United States, a day when we come together as Americans to pray for our country.

From the Boston Marathon bombing, the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Conn., the theater shooting in Aurora, Colo., and dozens of other disturbing acts of godless cowards, we’re constantly reminded how badly America needs our prayers—not just today, but every day.

So today, I’d like to ask you to join me in praying to heal our nation and to ask for God’s grace in the year ahead. And while we pray for the future of our nation, it’s important to remember that it’s up to us to make sure our children are learning about God’s role in America and our history.

Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor, hosts Huckabee on Fox News and the syndicated radio programs The Mike Huckabee Show and The Huckabee Report.
