Lou Engle Calls 40-Day ‘Ekballo’ Fast for Revival

Last night I moved to Pasadena, Calif. At midnight this evening, we launch a 40-day ekballo fast.

Jesus, before He initiated His apostolic ministry, was driven into the desert where he overcame Satan. The word driven is the Greek word ekballo, which indicates a forceful thrusting. The Spirit of God was moving Him under a great spiritual compulsion.

After the 40 days, he began to drive out demons. Again, the word for “drive out” is ekballo. After Jesus’ victory over Satan, a great clash of powers occurred. Then Jesus commanded His disciples to pray the Lord of Harvest to send forth laborers.

The word for send is also ekballo. The Lord was groaning to bring forth a massive evangelism and missions movement. He was preparing an army to forcefully challenge hell but he could not do it until the disciples asked him—no, rather begged him—to thrust forth laborers.

I believe the earth is in the throws of a great ekballo moment in history. My heart has laid hold of God in faith, that in these 40 days of fasting from March 1 through April 9, the Lord would push back the gates of hell and ekballo evangelists and missionaries from the church of America and from the church globally to the 7,000 unreached people groups that must have the gospel preached to them before Jesus can return.

For 40 days, we are asking you to join us in united prayer and fasting for the inauguration of a new era of revival and missions.

April 9 is the anniversary of Azusa Street. We must have a great revival and great harvest in America. And we must give ourselves to the great missionary program of Heaven for such a time as this.

Go to missionekballo.com for a daily devotional guide and believe God for a new season of revival in your own life and the shifting of history as we pray by the thousands.
