How One Spirit-Filled Man on the Ground Is Responding to the London Terrorist Attack

A police officer stands on duty as a Union flag flies at half-mast in Westminster the morning after an attack in London.

As the House of Commons finished Prime Minister’s Question Time and the House of Lords debated their Wednesday business, a lone fanatic was driving over Westminster Bridge mowing people down and heading towards the gates of Parliament. The brave police officer at the gate was critically stabbed, and the assailant was shot dead. 40 lie critically injured, five dead.

The great British Police and Emergency Services launched rapidly into action and once again displayed their professionalism in attending those under siege and those critically injured. Terror had again visited London, and again, the British responded with a Churchillian resolve. Once again, as has been the case since 1605 and Guy Fawkes, Parliament was under attack from terrorism, but like those before them, the democratic fabric held.

Today, London is a mixed cultural center, with over 300 languages spoken here daily. Those who come from whatever religion, creed or culture are welcome, and it is this alone that makes London. Our European friends, our friends across the pond, have all rallied in support, and though we cry tonight, we pray that joy will come in the morning. We ask you to pray for all those injured and for those who have lost their loved ones.

Tonight as I write, I can still hear the bells of Big Ben, I can still feel the chill of the London evening and as I look across the River Thames, I know that Londoners will never be intimidated by fear. {eoa}
