As people across the nation collectively reflect on what they are thankful for this holiday season, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (fca.org) is taking a moment to acknowledge the impact of their mission to reach coaches and athletes with the truth of the gospel through athletics.

“What a perfect time to reflect on the incredible blessings of God and say thank You to Him for the work we get to do to reach coaches and athletes around the globe with His gospel,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “We have so much to be thankful for and are overjoyed by what God continues to do through the investment of so many staff and volunteers to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.”

For FCA, the work they do with coaches and athletes has shown a massive impact over the past year alone. For FCA’s fiscal year (September 2020-August 2021), FCA reports nearly 17,000 total faith decisions, with over 18,000 certified Huddles, almost 800 camps with over 57,000 campers and nearly 50 registered Fields of Faith events. Through these various avenues, FCA has also distributed 208,624 Bibles.

This year, FCA is also grateful for the way God has blessed the ministry and the coaches and athletes worldwide it serves. This month, FCA is marking 67 years of staying true to the mission of leading every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.

In this time of thankfulness, FCA is pleased to encourage coaches and athletes to reflect on what they might have to be thankful for this year. Partnering with the Bible app, FCA has released an eight-day devotional titled “The Thankful Competitor.” The devotional follows the eight stages of being a thankful competitor, both on the athletic field and off.

“Whether winning or losing or competing or coaching, the thankful competitor always gives thanks to God—without Him, our lives, our teams, and our sport, lack purpose,” the devotional declares.

FCA’s theme for 2021 is Pursue, based on 1 Timothy 6:11: “Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.” FCA encourages its members to pursue God’s use of His Word as an anchor, grounding Christians as they look to His kingdom. {eoa}
