As Juneteenth approaches, Civil Rights for the Unborn, the African-American outreach for Priests for Life, has unveiled a new logo that makes clear that “justice for all” must include the unborn.

Evangelist Alveda King, who became Priests for Life’s first African-American Outreach director in 2004, said the new logo is a visual reminder that all human lives matter, born or pre-born.

“At Civil Rights for the Unborn, we stress that a child in the womb is a separate and unique individual who has the same inalienable right to life as all of us,” she said. “But we also care about the mothers who feel driven to abortion by personal circumstances. We hope to reach moms before they make the irrevocable choice to abort their children, and we also want to contact mothers who have already bought the abortion lie and are suffering as a result, as I did for many years.”

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said he and evangelist King—the niece of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—came together when both realized that the pro-life movement is the civil rights movement of the 21st century.

“The right to life is the most fundamental and most important right we have,” Father Pavone said. “No other civil rights issue of our day is more important than securing the right to life for the human beings still in their mother’s womb.”

In observance of Juneteenth this year, King is asking people to visit the website crujuneteenth.com and sign up for a social media Tweetfest taking place on Twitter on June 17, from 12-1 p.m. Use the hashtags #FreetheBabiesServetheMothers and #Juneteenth2016 and help them go viral.

Also, visit civilrightsfortheunborn.com and signup for important updates on the movement.

“For our pro-life efforts to be successful,” King said, “we’ve got to love them both.”
