Alveda King Sends Easter Blessings Amid Spiritual, Physical Storms

The Easter season should always be a time of healing and renewal. This year, in 2022, we are still reeling while recovering from the COVID pandemic. Strange weather patterns continue to emerge. Tempers flare, and violence erupts. Many are saddened by the wars and rumors of wars, especially in Ukraine. Our ministry is answering this present war crisis by praying and donating charitable aid. We are praying for God’s love and grace to heal all wounded souls everywhere this Easter season.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 15:13).

As a current reminder, when in crisis, we should always work to overcome evil with good. When at all possible, we must respond to fear and famine with prayers, faith, hope, love and corresponding action.

I have decided to not allow hate and fear to bait me into participating in racial debates and political strife over critical race theory, transgender surgeries for minors and rabid abortion. Instead, I am looking to fill every half-full glass with life, creativity and opportunity. I’m looking for and expecting silver linings in the most menacing clouds.

Most importantly, I’m repenting and forgiving while seeking forgiveness and to embrace human dignity for the embodiment of human flourishing, from the womb to the tomb. After all, we are not colorblind. Rather, we are the “one blood, one human race,” so we can learn to live together as brothers and sisters; not perish together as fools.

This Easter season, let the joy of the Lord overtake you. Let us correct the wrongs and sins; let God make every crooked path straight, every rocky place smooth.

The fruit of the Spirit includes joy. Smile, even if your heart is aching. Show God’s love. If there is sadness, ask God to help you.

Show everyone you see today that the Spirit of God is alive and well within you by presenting your joyful face to everyone you meet. God is good. Life is good. Remember the Easter season.

Today is Good Friday, a time for Christians to reflect on the sacrifice and gifts of Christ.

Stop. Drop. Pray.

Remember the cross of Christ and what He sacrificed for you.

Humble yourself. Surrender with thanksgiving.

“The Lord will bless his people with peace” (Ps. 29:11b).

Pray: Lord, help us to follow and accept “Your will be done.” Grant us the assurance of Your covenant and the gift of peace. Amen.

Nearly every day I get kind words of encouragement from some of my friends, either by text or by phone or email. The message today is inspired by one of those notes. Thank you, my friends, for sharing the Good News. God bless you.

Dear readers, pray with us, believe with us. Truly, we are better together.

Over at Alveda King’s House, we are praying for your blessings, healing, joy and peace this Easter season and always. {eoa}
