A Weak White House Makes a World of Difference

The tragedy that is currently happening in Ukraine is a direct reflection of the difference weakness in a White House administration makes throughout the world.

Under the Obama/Biden watch, Russia invaded Crimea, Ukraine. Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine in 2014. As a result, Christians in the territory have faced greater government penalties for practicing their faith. Protestant churches have been fined for “missionary activity.” Russia has continued to crackdown on evangelism and unregistered church activity, which includes almost all religious practice outside of the Russian Orthodox Church. Christians in Russia are prohibited from sharing about their faith or announcing church activities, even online or at home, unless permitted through a religious organization that has registered with the Russian government. Even then, evangelism is only sanctioned to occur within those designated churches.

However, during President Donald Trump’s administration, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin did not make one aggression against any countries. Nothing.

Yet one year into Joe Biden’s term, Putin has taken advantage of the weakness of this administration and invaded all of Ukraine. Putin has called for Ukraine’s military to overthrow the country’s leaders and negotiate a peace deal. This is apparently a signal that Putin is intent on overthrowing the capital and removing Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Yet Zelenskyy said, “I want to once again address the Russian president. Fighting is taking place all over Ukraine; let’s sit down for talks to stop the killing of people.”

Russian tanks are shooting at and running over civilian vehicles. A video showed a Russian armored tank intentionally swerve to run over a civilian car driving the opposite direction. Other videos show men in civilian clothing arming themselves with weapons in the Obolon district of Kyiv as Russian forces advance towards Ukraine’s capital. Russia has hit multiple civilian sites in the country over the last 24 hours. Residential buildings were left burnt. Residents were forced to take cover underground resulting in the deaths of 137 Ukrainians in the first full day of fighting on Thursday, according to Zelenskyy.

Ukraine bans men between 18 and 60 from leaving the country, so many are forced to say goodbye to loved ones and to stay to fight the invading Russian army. Others packed up their belongings, including pets, and piled into trains and cars out of the country.

Thursday, Biden made a statement on the Russian invasion of Ukraine which lasted less than a half-hour. Among other things, he highlighted the severity of the sanctions that the United States and other countries are imposing on Russia while at the same time he said that sanctions will not stop Putin’s aggressions against Ukraine. Yet there were no sanctions levied against Putin or anything involving the international SWIFT bank. After weeks of talking about the possibility of a Russian invasion into Ukraine, Biden said there will be no NATO or U.S. military response to the Russian invasion.

Biden did the same thing to many American citizens stuck in Afghanistan during that recent debacle when they couldn’t get to the Kabul airport in time for the final flight out of the country.

This never would have happened under President Trump. He warned the Russians in Syria that if they continued to allow Spetsnaz, the special forces that Putin referred to as mercenaries, he would bomb them. When the Russians didn’t believe him, Trump issued his first overt war threat against the Russian Federation by stating, “Get ready Russia, missiles will be coming at Syria, nice and new and ‘smart’!” Trump gave the order to Gen. James Mattis, who ordered the bombing that killed about 190 mercenaries, 90 of them Russian soldiers. From that time on, Putin thought Trump was too unpredictable and he never tried anything overt again.

However, Biden has the most predictable and weakest administration in recent history. And the world knows it. China knows it. Iran knows it.

Putin is committing crimes against humanity. He should be tried for war crimes because his military is intentionally killing innocent civilians. The videos coming out of Ukraine are heartbreaking.

Liberty Counsel founder and Chairman Mat Staver, “I am heartbroken by the tragic images of war waged against innocent civilians in Ukraine. Shamefully, Joe Biden tries to divert attention from the human carnage by nominating his choice to fill the seat of retiring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. We need leadership that will draw a red line. Weakness in the Oval Office has emboldened Russia, Iran and China.”
