Revelation 16:9: “And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.” According to a new report that came out today, June marked the 14th straight month of record-setting heat, the planet’s longest such streak in NOAA’s 137 years of record keeping. The information provided indicated that data from both NOAA and NASA indicate the Earth is well on its way to its warmest year on record.
The U.S., southern Mexico, northeastern Brazil, northeastern and southwestern Africa, the Middle East, northern Australia, and Indonesia all have been getting pummeled with record heat. Recently, in the U.S. alone, thousands of Los Angeles residents lost power as scorching temperatures kept people inside while running fans and air conditioners that strained the power grid. One man even fried steaks in the streets of Arizona from the heat wave that struck there. Phoenix saw a high of 118 degrees, breaking a record of 115 set nearly 50 years ago and even causing a flight to be diverted in mid-flight.
India also recorded its highest-ever temperature when the heat in the town of Phalodi, in the western state of Rajasthan, reached 51 degrees Celsius (123.8 degrees Fahrenheit). These extreme temperatures blasted the region for 48 hours straight, breaking records and even causing roads there to melt. Shanghai, which is China’s largest city shattered its previous all-time record high multiple times last year starting with a high of 105.1ºF (40.6ºC) on July 25, surpassing the old record of 104.4ºF (40.2ºC) that had stood since 1942.
