Coercive Suicide Warning Signs: Are People Listening?

With inflation raging, gas prices expected to rise and children being indoctrinated in schools across the world, coerced suicide is not a topic high on the list of people’s concerns.

Yet this immoral practice and the arguments purporting its benefits are spreading right next to America.

A man in London, Ontario, Canada is suing the Victoria Hospital London Health Sciences Centre because he claims the hospital staff is trying to coerce him into giving his permission to kill him.

Roger Foley is a 47-year-old man who suffers from the disease cerebellar ataxia. This disease attacks a person’s brain and muscular system, and the symptoms include poor muscular control and difficulties with speech, eye movement and swallowing.

Foley has been bedridden for six years. He needs continuous assistance sitting up so he can eat and clean himself.

He claims that the hospital staff pressured him to receive the state-funded medical assistance in dying (MAID).

“Mr. Foley was told by hospital staff that he had stayed at the hospital for too long and if he did not receive self-directed funding, he should apply for assisted death as an option,” the lawsuit states.

As Charisma News reported, Canada looks to expand their MAID program to include those suffering from mental health issues, and in some cases “mature minors” may choose to do this without their parent’s permission.

Human rights advocates are understandably worried about the implication of coercing patients to take this route. Along with the inclusion of mentally ill patients brings with it the cases of the homeless who suffer from mental illness and may not know what in fact they are signing up for.

Even though hospital spokespersons are constantly saying things, as in the case of Mr. Foley, “If the patient does not verbally express an interest [in assisted-suicide] or changes their mind, our healthcare team will not engage in these conversations.”

Yet events contrary to this statement continue to take place and are becoming more frequent.

Charisma News also reported that Veteran Affairs Canada (VAC) illegally offered MAID to a veteran suffering from PTSD. The service in question is not even legally allowed to be used by the VAC, yet somehow it was offered as a solution to the suffering veteran who thankfully wanted no part of it.

The warning signs are blatant and obvious these days. The same attitude that allows doctors to permanently mutilate the bodies of minors in “gender affirming” surgeries, will allow them to wantonly offer patients the American version of MAID if (or when) it makes its way to the United States.

Considering the enthusiasm a barbaric procedure like abortion has accumulated over time, the same disregard for life that coerced suicide brings with it will feel right at home in the American medical system. Unless Americans stand up for the life that God breathed into humanity and say no to this wholesale slaughter, it may find its way across the border sooner than later. {eoa}
