4 Killed in Shooting at Halloween Party

At least four people died in a shooting at a California Halloween party last night. Another four people were injured.

Orinda Police Chief David Cook told ABC News that they are still investigating the scene as of Friday morning.

The shooting occurred at around 11 p.m. Thursday in an affluent area of about 18,000 residents in the Bay Area.

The party was advertised on social media as an “AirBNB mansion party,” reports the East Bay Times. A flyer requested that guests “DM [direct message] for location” and to “BYOB [bring your own booze] and BYOW [bring your own weed].”

Police arrived at the scene to find around 100 people who attended the party.

Halloween parties seem to have a recent history of violence. Three men died at a birthday-Halloween party in Long Beach, California, this week, and two people died from gunshot wounds in an off-campus college party for Halloween on Oct. 27 in Greenville, Texas. Last year, two men died in a shooting at a private Halloween party in East Palo Alto, California.
