First, Julia Jeffress Sadler miscarried while 100 youth girls were in her backyard and she was speaking on God’s plan for our lives.

Second, the girls’ minister at First Baptist Dallas miscarried while returning from vacation.

Third, Sadler, daughter of First Baptist Dallas Pastor Robert Jeffress, miscarried after speaking in two different states about a Christian view on depression and anxiety and why God allows suffering.

“The reason I share that we were losing our children while having these spiritual milestones is because it was impossible to miss the fact that God was still trying to do something, even while there was such a temptation to become discouraged,” Sadler shares with Charisma News as part of the “Grief in the Womb” series.

“I remember feeling like it sounded really melodramatic, but the Bible teaches that there really is spiritual warfare, and I just felt like there were two forces really fighting for our faith and our family and our future,” Sadler says.

So she turned to the only option she knew: Prayer.

“We decided we were not going to miss out on anything because we didn’t take the time to ask God for it,” Sadler says, pointing to James 4:2-3 as their theme verse during the struggle.

“We would pray multiple times a day, and we would kind of joke that for being evangelical and Baptists, we became super charismatic during that process,” Sadler says.

Sadler and her husband, Ryan, asked the Lord for their hearts’ desires: Three children and multiples, like twins.

And God showed up.
