Charisma House will release a second book by Real Talk Kim (Kimberly Jones-Pothier) called Shut Hell Up: When the Enemy Brings Up Your Past, Remind Him of Your Future on April 7, 2020. Real Talk Kim’s first book, When Your Bad Meets His Good, was born out of her testimony of hitting rock bottom and learning to rely on God to get back on her feet.

At 36 years old, Real Talk Kim found herself back in her parents’ home, with her two sons, making minimum wage. She had lost her business, her home and her marriage. But she came to realize something: you can either nurse your wounds for the rest of your life or let God turn your mess into a message.

In Shut Hell Up, using her signature tell-it-like-it-is style, Real Talk Kim shows readers how to stare insecurity in the face and say, “Not today.” When the enemy plays into one’s sense of inadequacy, readers can shut him up and be empowered to do the following:

  • Make choices from a place of confidence, not doubt
  • Reject labels and let God determine who they are
  • Refuse to be ruled by emotions
  • Realize that God’s plan is bigger than their past

Real Talk Kim knows what it’s like to feel inadequate. She has heard the voice inside her that says, “You can’t do this,” or, “You’re not good enough.” And she’s learned how to shut it up. Exposing her own messes and failures, Real Talk Kim leads readers to overcoming negative thinking, fear and the wrong view of self. She shows each reader how to embrace who he or she is: a child of God who is qualified for His purposes.

“You are not just anyone. You are a child of God. You are in covenant with Him….The struggle you face is only temporary. I’m telling you that you have rights, and you need to establish them in your life. Tell every stronghold to be broken in Jesus’ name. Then allow Jesus to establish Himself on the throne of your heart,” Real Talk Kim says.
