Prayer Leaders Call for Global Intercession, Fast Leading Up to Easter

In the two weeks leading up to Jewish and Christian holidays Passover and Easter, prayer leaders Lou Engle and Dean Briggs are encouraging people to join them in fasting, prayer and communion until April 18 when—in Jerusalem and during Passover—they will host a global Lord’s Supper with their Arab friends.

Jewish and Gentile celebrations of Passover and Easter overlap in 2022 on Good Friday, April 15, and April 16, the commemoration of Israel’s exodus from Egypt.

Already, thousands of people from around the world are committed to 40 days of fasting and prayer for 1 billion souls, globally, for 80 million souls in America and for 200,000 new missionaries—coupled with celebrating daily communion. The Jesus Global Fast began on March 7, and continues to until Passover.

Since then, Israel has opened its border to international travel, enabling a group of leaders to meet in Jerusalem during Passover and for an evening communion celebration on Monday, April 18.

What was originally called The Jesus Fast 2022 turned into The Great Communion Revival when, on the first night, the Holy Spirit impressed on Engle and Briggs to include “The Lord’s Prayer” in Matthew 6:5-15 and Luke 11:1-13.

“For whoever can receive it, we’re inviting the global body of Christ to celebrate communion together, wherever they are, but with a focus on the special connection to Passover, and with fresh revelation in our spirits of the power of the blood of the Lamb,” Briggs said. “In a day of trouble in the earth, we’re asking God to pass over us with mercy.”

A couple of Messianic Jewish ministries in Israel are working with Engle and Briggs on the Passover/Communion celebration, including Jewish Voice leader Asher Intrater, and Watchmen for the Nations David Demian.

Engle, Briggs and Chris Berglund met in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the first three weeks of prayer, fasting and communion. Besides the salvation of Jewish people, the three encouraged prayer for an upcoming worship, prayer and missions movement in Kansas City.

Engle is a key collaborator for The Send on May 14, at GEHA Arrowhead Stadium, along with Andy Byrd, Michael Koulianos, Daniel Kolenda, Todd White and others. The International House of Prayer is participating, too.

The three leaders recently invited thousands of spiritual warriors to join them online for prayer and encouragement, offering three powerful keys to unlocking worldwide revival. Engle and Briggs offer a model of the Lord’s Prayer and take communion (watch here: (327) The Great Communion Revival – YouTube).

Briggs and Engle are asking people to remember Jesus’ passion daily in taking the Lord’s Supper, along with fasting and praying the “disciples’ prayer.”

“We’re starting to see more and more that communion doesn’t just cause us to remember what once occurred as a sentimental, symbolic gesture; rather it presently permits the ekklesia to re-enact the full continuum of triumph from Passover when the gods of Egypt were judged, to the re-enactment of the cross, where God judged every principality and power,” Briggs says.

The second key is what they’re calling The Disciples Prayer, an intercessory appropriating of communion with explosive offensive power. “Imagine when we say that prayer in unison with His heart when He taught us to pray it. When we take communion and say the Lord’s Prayer, we’re actually going to war,” Briggs says.

The third key is taking communion, daily, until Apr. 18, when delegations from the nations gather in Jerusalem during Passover. “We’re daring to believe this could be a beginning for the Great Communion Revival,” Engle said, something for which he has been praying for nearly 20 years.

Join the global communion of Christians, Arabs and Jews on April 18 at 5 a.m. PDT and at 3 p.m. IDT here: Watchmen for the Nations Global Family website.

Reading Psalm 23 is another key, Briggs said. “We’re inviting but also charging you in the Spirit to take communion every day, pray the Lord’s Prayer with an understanding that it is an enforcement of communion and communion is an enforcement of the cross,” he added.

Engle added, “Then put it in action in your life. You can’t have authority in the Lord’s Prayer when you’re holding bitterness, accusation and unforgiveness against your brother. Just forgive everybody, every day. I believe we’re entering into another massive Passover when the blood is going to set the prisoners free. Jews are going to get saved. They’re going to behold the Lamb of God.”

Briggs said the pandemic shut down plans to travel to Israel in 2021, but at the beginning of the 2022 fast Israel suddenly opened its borders. “We want to draw on the eternal blood of the Lamb and the history of Passover, and meld it to the prayer we have all been taught to pray—Orthodox, Protestant, Catholic, Evangelical, Charismatic, Pentecostal,” he said.

Berglund had a dream on the first night of the fast in which he heard a voice say, “‘I Am’ is preparing to answer the disciples’ prayer worldwide.”

“We’ve always called it the Lord’s Prayer, but that’s a misnomer. The disciples asked Jesus, ‘teach us how to pray.’ He taught them the disciples prayer. So ‘I Am’ is preparing to answer the disciples prayer everywhere,” Briggs said. {eoa}
