How Do You Know if You’re Really Saved?

Evangelist Chris Mikkelson says people approach him all the time asking, “How can I know for sure that I’m saved?”

That’s an important question. And yes, there is an answer to it.

On his Salvation Today, Mikkelson discusses this question with ministers Gilbert and Mary Ann Markarian. Mary Ann says the answer to this question can be found in an interesting conversation Nicodemus has with Jesus in John 3.

“[Nicodemus] goes to Jesus and he says, ‘Listen, I have to ask You something,'” she says. “You can imagine he’s asking this universal question of ‘How can I be saved? How can I for sure know I will go to heaven?’ And he’s asking the right guy!

“… Jesus gives a very interesting answer. He says, ‘Hey, listen, you have to be born again.’ He says, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’ Well, Nicodemus is totally shocked by that answer.”

Mary Ann says Jesus responded to Nicodemus’ confusion by saying that a person seeking salvation must be born of the Spirit. That process can’t be seen in the natural—it’s something that happens in the spiritual realm.

Listen to Mikkelson’s interview with the Markarians to learn how you can know for sure that you’re born again.
