Ex-Lesbian: What the Church Is Missing in Its Ministry to the LGBT Community

Share:

Ex-lesbian Jessica Newsome and Pastor Eli Lara say the church has been missing something crucial in its ministry to the LGBT community.

In herThe Victory > The Struggle podcast, Newsome tells Lara that when God delivered her from homosexuality, what helped her grow was a loving church community.

“One of the things that drew me to you was your love for people,” Newsome tells Lara, who pastors New Life Church in McAllen, Texas. “It’s meeting people where they were, not judging them. You know sin is sin, but at the same time, you know how to walk with people where they are. And you know when to say something, when to minister and when to just hold back because the Holy Spirit’s kind of saying, ‘Not right now; they just need love.'”

But how do Christians walk that balance of showering people in the LGBT community with love without condoning sin? Listen to the podcast to learn the answer. {eoa}
