In a recent podcast episode, Candace Cameron Bure discussed what it’s like being in a public position and dealing with backlash from the world.

“I’ll just say it. Cancel culture is very real,” Bure said.

Bure shared how receiving opposition to her beliefs and faith has been an ongoing learning process as it continues to develop her and her walk with God.

“If you read the news or certain types of weekly magazines or even Instagram, you’ll have seen my face pop up in multiple articles…I’ve never taken those types of punches before. I’ve taken punches before in my industry, but it was a level I hadn’t yet experienced, and it’s been very challenging,” Bure said.

Bure is known for her outspoken Christian faith and keeping traditional family values at the center of her work as an actor. Friend and actress Danica McKellar has even thanked Bure for guiding her along when she committed her life to Christ. Bure’s brother, actor Kirk Cameron, reached out in a congratulatory manner to her for standing up for the truth even when the world seems to have turned its back on her.

“I remember my brother called me and he was like, ‘Candace! Ha ha! Welcome to the James 1 club.’ And I was like, ‘What? The James 1 club?’ And he was like, ‘You joined it. You finally, really joined it.'”

Upon hearing this, Bure asked her brother why he was so joyful about these trials and then looked up James 1. James 1:2-3 reads: “My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations, knowing that the trying of your faith develops patience.”

Spending time understanding James 1 has grown and matured Bure’s faith even more as she’s seen the trials come her way.

“That James 1 club has been really important for me because I faced some trials that I haven’t faced before. And I know they’re still going to come. They’re still there. They’re waiting for me,” Bure said.

For Christians, trials and tribulations can be expected, but with the hope of our Savior God will be with us in the middle of even the toughest circumstances. {eoa}
