Baptist Pastor Blasts Comedienne Sarah Silverman as ‘Jezebel,’ ‘Witch’ and ‘Jewish False Prophet’

Baptist pastor Adam Fannin criticized liberal comedienne Sarah Silverman as a “Jewish false prophet.” The comedienne took to Twitter to tell her followers that the pastor was “going to get me killed.”

Fannin shared his original comments during a sermon while he was still pastor of Stedfast Baptist Church, according to Newsweek.

“She is a witch, she is a Jezebel, she is a God-hating [expletive] of Zionism,” Fannin said. “I hope that God breaks her teeth out and she dies. She is a wicked person, and she is like the perfect representation of religious Judaism.”

Silverman—who was fired from a film recently for wearing blackface in a 2007 comedy sketch—posted a clip of Fannin’s sermon and said, “If I get murdered, start here.”

Fannin also said Silverman bragged about being glad the Jews put Jesus to death and that she would do it again. These quotes come from Silverman’s 2005 comedy act “Jesus Is Magic.” She has since said she doesn’t stand behind that comedy special.

Silverman said on Twitter that someone took a line from that comedy special and turned it into a meme without context. She says the social media backlash that resulted is what triggered Fannin.

“So the person who made the meme knew it was comedy and intentionally repurposed it as real, knowing it would influence a swath of people who see it and share it everyday [sic],” she writes. “And that’s America today. Incitements of violence based on lies and the disingenuous re-framings of truth.”

Fannin now preaches at the Law of Liberty Baptist Church. The original video of his sermon on YouTube was removed.
