Clay Clark and Gen. Michael Flynn’s Reawaken America Tour has unexpectedly captured the interest of award-winning filmmaker Matthew Thayer. Cameras will be rolling amid the sold-out crowd and heftier than ever speaker line-up at the Anaheim event to be held at Influence Church in Anaheim, California, on July 17-18, 2021.
Thayer has been a film director, writer and producer of several projects, perhaps best known for directing Lemonade, and Duped, both family-friendly comedy short films. Thayer often works with his wife, Joy, who is a producer (associate producer of Unplanned) and actress.
While they are both Christians and they make films, they make the distinction that they are not Christian filmmakers.
“If God is revealed, great. If not, we’re not going to force it in,” Joy says. “We protect our integrity as filmmakers. However, God created people and placed eternity in the hearts of everyone. We believe the human heart resonates with the truth—and we just want to reveal truth, especially in our current cancel-culture climate.”
When asked why the transition from short films to documentaries, Matthew responded, “I asked God the same thing.”
When highly respected film producers Daryl LeFever, (executive producer Unplanned) and Joe Knopp (co-producer of I Can Only Imagine) asked Matthew to film The Trump I Know, which they were jointly producing, Matthew explained he had an immediate resistance. His professional goal is to film scripted projects, and he knew directing a documentary about President Trump would draw a definite line in the sand concerning his personal career.
However, Matthew’s long and deeply held belief in America’s God-guided founding and his concern over the years for America’s declining reputation as an empire building, consumeristic and amoral country provided reasons to consider the project. Seeing the exposure of corruption such as election and media fraud and Big Tech censorship also influenced his consideration.
“We don’t believe politics and religion are mutually exclusive. We want to help people reawaken to the truth and help them embrace what it truly means to be an American.
“Knowing our Founding Fathers were God-fearing men who openly sought guidance from the Almighty and earnestly worked to create a republic consistent with the Judeo-Christian values, I sought God about this radical career move. That’s when I heard God say, ‘Why do you want to impress Hollywood when Hollywood rejects Me?’
“With that, all resistance was gone” Matt confided.
“Clay Clark is breaking fear of man and promoting fear of God,” he said. “He is boldly presenting truth regardless of the potential consequences or threats. The enormous response people had with the first event held April 2021 in Oklahoma, to the momentum today, … I have no doubt God is all over this tour. Actually, it’s more than a tour; it’s a movement.”
The docuseries will begin by introducing people to the movement with a broad overview and express the importance of courage in the present times. The second film in the series will likely explore the medical and election fraud and expose what’s been termed the “Great Reset.”
The Thayers both agree their docuseries will be part of God’s current intervening efforts to expose corruption and empower people to action.
The scheduled release date for a worldwide premier of the first film in the series is Nov. 15, 2021, and will be presented in conjunction with the San Antonio, Texas, Reawaken America Tour.
