Why Believers Can Laugh in the Face of Calamity

Many people, including me, have found themselves asking one or all of these questions, "Should I be panicked? Are calamity and destruction at the door? What should I do?"

Can I remind you today that we serve a God who is still God and is a "very present help in time of trouble" (Ps. 46:1b, NKJV). The Word says, "No harm will come to you; no plague will come near your tent" (Ps. 91:10, HCSB). It is time we remind ourselves of the promises in His Word and who God is!

We can stop the calamity! We serve a God of the turnaround! It is time we run back to the tower (Ps 46).

On July 8, the Lord spoke to me to prepare to release a video confronting some issues that have arose concerning videos declaring doom and gloom. The videos released had even caused fear in me.

Due to this and compounded by recent family circumstances (death of my mom just last month and heart attack of my brother), I was feeling overwhelmed, troubled and wondering all sorts of "what ifs." I needed to be reminded that God was still in control, and I have no reason to fear or fret. What many do not understand is that prophecy is not fixed, it is formed.

We see in part: "For we know in part, and we prophesy in part" (1 Cor 13:9, MEV). We have the power to arise and speak to the storm that is coming. The church needs to do its part.

And so I recorded and released an encouraging video addressing what the Lord had shared with me and a prayerful response to the videos and prophesies that have been released during this recent time. Here is that video.

Here are the facts:

  1. We (the bride) must awaken: (2 Chron 7:14). We serve a God of the turnaround. He can withhold calamity (Nineveh) and turn His favor upon us. I believe that the dreams and prophecy of destruction are causing the church to run away, plan for devastation and hide in the shadows. This is not the way. This should be the church's finest hour; it is time to rise up, declare hope and remember that the gospel means "Good News"!
  1. We must find His whisper: Quit listening to the wind (all the media is telling you and news of doom and gloom), earthquake and fire (1 Kings 19:11-12). We must not rely on voices of fear right now, but rather stand firm with righteousness. We must find His whisper again! God is speaking; are you close enough to hear His whisper?
  1. We must run to God. We know that the righteous run to God and are saved (Prov. 18:10). We do not serve a God who abandons His bride, but one who meets His bride on the door of the threshold and says, "Allow Me to come in and be with you" (see Isa. 41:10) We must not run to the hills, but turn to the hills, from which comes our help! (Ps. 121:1-2).

We can turn the tide. We can see America saved. There is much more to say, but I believe that is a time to call for national repentance and prayer.

We must adhere to this promise: Psalm 33:12 says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen for His inheritance." We must not shrink back! Fear is never an impetus for solid decision-making. Our footsteps are ordered of the Lord. It is time to do our part.

Should we be panicked? No!
