“To know You and to make You known/ This is the anthem of our souls/ Send us out, we will go/ Anywhere You lead us, Lord/ Driven by love/ Till all have heard/ We’ll carry Your name/ To the ends of the earth/ We’ll carry Your love/ And shine with Your light/ Till the whole world knows You/ And lifts You high.”
So go the opening lyrics and chorus of Lindy & The Circuit Riders’ latest song, “Driven by Love.”
Lindy Conant-Cofer, the band’s lead singer and songwriter, spoke with “C-Pop,” the Christian pop culture podcast, recently about the Holy Spirit-inspired origins of the song.
“A lot of our songs from, ‘OK, we’re in a spontaneous moment, God’s doing something, let’s go finish this and make it a song.’ ‘Driven by Love’ was that way, We Will Rise,’ is that way, ‘Obedience’ is that way,” Conant-Cofer says. “But it’s fun to do that, because you can kind of take a spontaneous moment and go, ‘Right, that was for that room, but how do we now write a song on this that will help us translate to the rest of the body of Christ to where it can be a song sung, and it will bring people into this moment that happened?'”
