4 Signs That You’re Living by Faith or Fear

Share:

Fear can paralyze us if we let it. Take a lesson from the movie, Dumb and Dumber, so that you are living in the place of faith!

“So you’re telling me there’s a chance.” — Lloyd, Dumb and Dumber

Do you remember the scene in Dumb and Dumber when Lloyd (Jim Carrey) stands before Mary, asking her what the chances are of a guy like him getting together with a girl like her? She replies, “Like one in a million.” Lloyd pauses for a moment and then out comes the line we have quoted and laughed over again and again, “So you’re telling me there’s a chance!”

Talk about FAITH! OK, maybe a little naïve, or just plain stupidity in this case, but wouldn’t you love to have this kind of knee-jerk reaction faith? To have a faith that is constant and not shaken by the storms of situations. God wants to pour out this kind of faith in the hearts of His dreamers: those who will believe in the impossible because they know their God.

The enemy wants you discouraged and defeated before you even begin. He wants you thinking there’s a one in a million chance of success, with no hope of victory. He wants to strike you out before you even step up to the plate.

Sun Tzu, the famous Chinese military strategist, whose tactics are revealed in the book, The Art of War, is known for saying, “Every battle is won before it’s ever fought.”

As Christians, this is the reality we face. Just look at David and Joseph: both went through trials they had to overcome in order for God to release them to their true place of authority. Preparation is part of the battle and requires discipline and endurance to get us to the next level.

As saints who prepare, we must take our place as Ephesians 6 warriors, but we must also remember that ultimately it’s God who is fighting WITH us and FOR us. Not only that but He has seated us in the heavenly places next to the Father, and He is always reminding us that with Him ALL things are possible. He’s the God of one in million, and He wants to search your heart today and fill up every inch with faith and hope!

Allow God to search your heart and ask yourself,

  1.     What are those emotions alongside of my dreams? It is faith or fear?
  2.     What do you believe as you dream about the future?
  3.     Do you have feelings of hope and faith or fear?
  4.     As you look ahead, is Jesus standing next you, and is your Father five steps ahead of you preparing the way? Or do you approach the future with trepidation, feeling alone and confused?
