Dr. Simone Gold, founder of America’s Frontline Doctors, says that American citizens have lost civil liberties over the way the government has handled the Jan. 6 incident.
“The prosecution, the government’s side, cannot charge for crimes they cannot prove but that is exactly what they are doing to many, many Jan. 6 defendants,” Gold declared on a recent broadcast of The Eric Metaxas Show. “They are overcharging.”
Gold, who is both a medical doctor and a lawyer, was at the Jan. 6 event as an invited speaker to talk about medical freedom to a crowd as large as a million people. She was not even there in Washington, D.C., to talk about the election. However, when the situation unraveled at the Capitol for reasons that are still unclear, Gold was present at the scene. As a result, she was arrested and charged with crimes. She became one of the Jan. 6 defendants.
“The FBI ended up arresting me in a horrifically violent kind of arrest with huge weapons pointed at me,” she laments. “The federal government put so much pressure on people like me to accept guilty pleas.”
She was charged with trespassing, which is a misdemeanor. But the government also charged her with violence and a felony, which had a 20-year sentence.
“When you put a burden like that on somebody, it’s almost too much of a risk to take, if you’re a person like me, who is going to become very politicized in the jury’s minds,” she told Metaxas in the interview.
After hearing about how civil liberties have been violated as part of the Jan. 6 aftermath, Metaxas told Gold, “It’s horrifying, and there are very few people who seem to be reporting about it in the mainstream media.”
He went on to say, “Since you’re Jewish, I can say that is exactly what happened in Germany. People said, ‘Well, this is not my battle. I’m going to keep my mouth shut and let the other people take the heat.’ Right now, we have a lot of people, just by virtue of their silence, who are participating in the demonization of folks like you, who either did nothing wrong or did nothing illegal. And yet, we’re living in a time when not only is this happening, but the word is not getting out.”
Gold, who is the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, rose to national prominence in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I was a practicing physician on the frontlines when COVID struck, and I found there were a lot of mistruths and half-truths and flat-out lies that were being told to the American people,” she explains. “So, we went public.”
She organized a group of doctors with integrity and stood on the steps of the Supreme Court in July 2020 to shed light on the truth about how lockdowns don’t work, masks don’t work and early treatment does work—the opposite of what Dr. Tony Fauci was saying publicly as a government official.
“From that moment on, my life completely changed,” she says. “I became really targeted, censored, heavily slandered, defamed, but we kept fighting. America’s Frontline Doctors brought a lot of hope and a lot of medical treatment to the American people.”
Gold went from being seen as a “rockstar” in medicine to being a “convicted criminal,” simply because she was at the Capitol to give a scheduled speech about medical freedom. The judge, who sentenced her, spent most of his time at the sentencing openly talking about how much he hates America’s Frontline Doctors, according to her.
Gold had evidently upset the establishment in Washington, D.C., (aka “the swamp”). As a Stanford University-trained expert, she had publicly disagreed with Fauci because she was more interested in the truth and, as a result, her First Amendment rights were being violated.
“I’m really just an example,” Gold says. “I want everyone to understand that if they can take a person like me and turn me essentially into a convicted criminal because I did accept a misdemeanor plea, they are coming for you next. I’m just a little bit ahead of you, but they are coming for you next.”
