Incest, Pedophilia Are Next ‘Civil Rights,’ Judge Suggests

Garry Nielson

District Court Judge Garry Neilson is pouring liquid soap on the slippery slope that many pro-family advocates have warned about for decades. Indeed, the Sydney, Australia judge has dared to go where perhaps no judge has gone before, comparing incest and pedophilia to homosexuality.

Yes, this important public figure had the audacity to suggest that some may no longer see sexual contact between adults and children as “unnatural” or “taboo,” according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald. He went on to remind that gay sex was not acceptable—and actually criminal—in the 1950s and 1960s but many tolerate it today.

Neilson made the remarks against the backdrop of a 58-year-old man who was charged with raping his pre-pubescent sister decades ago. The man, known as MRM in the legal case, pled out to incest instead of rape.

“A jury might find nothing untoward in the advance of a brother towards his sister once she had sexually matured, had sexual relationships with other men and was now ‘available’, not having [a] sexual partner,” Neilson said, noting that the “only reason” incest is still a criminal act is because of the high risk of genetic defects. But he has a solution for that, too: “ready access to abortion.”

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth, a national organization devoted to exposing and countering the homosexual activist agenda, may have said it best: “The slippery slope of sexual perversion and sin continues to yield stunning departures from healthy, Judeo-Christian morality.”

Although I am shocked, creationist Ken Ham isn’t: “This news should not be a surprise to anyone! I’ve been saying for years that once you abandon the absolute authority of the Word of God, then ultimately anything goes—if you can get away with it.”

The Bible clearly speaks against incest. Several verses in Leviticus cut right to the heart of the matter, forbidding the practice: “None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin to him, to uncover his nakedness” (Lev. 18:6). The Scripture doesn’t say that if society changes its mores over the course of several thousand years to make incest acceptable, you can have sex with your sister, your mother, your father, your brother, your aunt or your uncle.

The Bible also speaks against abortion. Exodus 20:13 plainly says, “You shall not murder.” Abortion is murder—and abortion so that you don’t birth a deformed baby after you have sex with your sister, your mother, your father, your brother, your aunt or your uncle is adding sin upon sin. It’s sickening.

The enemy is growing bolder in this hour. Activist judges are working hard to usurp the authority of God’s Word when it comes to issues of morality. Nevertheless, we have authority as God’s representatives on the earth. We are ambassadors for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20).  Indeed, “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).

I don’t like talking about these issues any more than you do, “but all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light” (Eph. 5:12). We have to shine God’s light—God’s truth—on these issues or darkness will continue creeping into our courts, our schools, our marketplace and even our churches. Notice I say continue. It’s getting darker out there.

Saints, don’t let this darkness scare you. Rise up in the name of Jesus and push back the darkness. You have the authority in Christ to do it! It takes work. Laboring in prayer demands you sacrifice your time. But you are called for such a time as this!  We need to stand as those who burn and shine for Jesus, like John the Baptist who refused to bow to the moral decay of his generation but spoke against it so the Holy Spirit could use the truth to prick their hearts and bring them to repentance.
