A veteran Bahamian pastor with a reputation for revolutionizing youth ministry has been selected by board members to replace the late Dr. Myles Munroe as senior pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries and chairman of its Board of Governors.

The widely respected Munroe, also a native of the Bahamas, was killed along with his wife and seven colleagues on Nov. 9 when their private jet clipped a shipping crane while attempting to land at Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport and crashed.

Announcement of the appointment of Dr. David Burrows to succeed Munroe was made Sunday, Nov. 16, during a special Kingdom Celebration Service, the first Sunday service following the tragic crash.

Burrows was well received by the membership of the church, according to a Facebook posting by another church leader, and has promised to continue to build and advance the vision of Bahamas Faith Ministries and its founder, Dr. Munroe.

Burrows, known to friends and associates as “Davy B” or “the Ruffneck Pastor,” was born and raised in the Bahamas. He grew up as a troubled teenager on the streets of Nassau and spent his teen years as a rebellious youth involved in the street world of drugs, violence and crime.

After several close encounters with the law, Burrows, through the influence of his brother-in-law Pastor Robyn Gool, accepted Christ and went on to graduate from Oral Roberts University. He later worked for the Bahamas government as a senior officer in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, where he orchestrated a number of successful programs for young people.

Prior to his appointment to BFM, Burrows was a youth pastor and president of Youth Alive Ministries. A lifetime youth-and-family specialist and one of the foremost authorities in the world on youth and youth ministry development, Dr. Burrows has served on three occasions as chairman of the Bahamas National Youth Advisory council, a group that advises the Bahamas government on youth matters.

Through the years Burrows has revolutionized youth ministry in the Bahamas and many areas of the world through a variety of unconventional programs that have impacted, gangs, drug users and troubled youth, as well as everyday young people. His methods and down-to-earth approach have earned him the nickname “the Ruffneck Pastor.”

Burrows travels locally and internationally as a conference speaker, motivating youth, churches, youth ministries and school groups to reach a higher level in Christ. He has spoken at The Potters House of Denver, Crenshaw Christian Center (Dr. Fredrick Price), West Angeles Church of God in Christ (Bishop Charles Blake), Victory Christian Center (Pastor Robyn Gool, North Carolina), Calvary Revival Center (Pastor Courtney Macbath, Virginia), Oral Roberts University, Messiah College as well as churches and conferences throughout the Caribbean and America. He has authored 10 books including The Laws of Good Success, Sex & Dating, Making the Most of Your Teenage Years, Strategies for Saving the Next Generation and Talk to Me. He also hosts TV and radio programs including The Ruffneck Myxx and Effective Youth.

Burrows also has appeared on many television and radio shows, including programs hosted by TBN, Richard Roberts (Hour of Healing), Armstrong Williams and T.D. Jakes (Potter’s Touch). In addition to his ministry work, Burrows also is a businessman as the owner of Megabyte Computers, One Rib Publishing Company and Tech TC, a computer and technology training center. His wife, Angela, ministers along with him and runs the family businesses. The couple have two children, Arri and Davrielle.
