Apostle and prophet Demontae Edmonds says Christians can gladly receive a prophetic word from God. But because of how they react to that word, they may not see it come to pass.

Edmonds, the founder of Freedom 4 the Nations ministry in Atlanta, Georgia, says that when a believer receives a prophetic word from another believer, they should do one thing.

“When you are given a word, I would say simply just to be quiet,” says Edmonds, the host of the This is Freedom podcast on the Charisma Podcatst Network. “Many people receive a word and get emotional about what’s being said, so they miss the substance of the content or the wisdom and instruction they are being given. They receive the word and they cry and get emotional.

“You want to have a response, but you really do not want to miss the word that God is trying to say to you. Second, I would say take that word back to God in prayer. A lot of people depend on the prophets to bring the word to pass, but you need to take those words back to God and pray to Him. It’s His wisdom that can help you release those words and help them to manifest. A lot of people don’t do that and they miss what God has for them.”

Edmonds says that many people get frustrated during the waiting period between the time the word is given and the time it comes to pass. But, he says, we must take heart. “We all stay in a period like that, but it let’s us know that God has a tomorrow for us.”

When Edmonds gives a word to someone, He is confident that it comes directly from God, for many reasons.

“Faith begins to rise in my heart when God puts it on me to pass on a prophetic word,” Edmonds says. “Secondly, God gives me a compassion for that person, and I just feel a magnetic pull to go to that person. It may be in the supermarket, in the church or in the streets. Even when I try to dismiss it and say, ‘maybe that’s just me,’ it comes back to me and God says, ‘you must give that word to this person. The Bible says in Hebrews 5 that by reason of use we have our senses exercised to discern between good and evil. So, as you practice releasing the Word of the Lord, you increase in your confidence.”
