Pastor John Gray’s Wife: ‘My Family and I Stand in Need of a Miracle’

Aventer Gray, wife of Relentless Church Pastor John Gray, says it’s only the grace of God and the prayers of multitudes of believers that is keeping her husband alive.

John Gray, 49, was admitted to the critical care unit at a hospital in Greeneville, S.C., for a saddle pulmonary embolism (SPE) with additional life-threatening blood clots in his lungs. He was transferred to a hospital in Atlanta, where doctors are watching him around the clock.

On Instagram, Gray says the SPE is in a position that could potentially end his life if it shifts at all, and that only God is keeping him alive.

“The clot burden is severe and God is holding it in place,” Gray said Monday. “He (John) is currently in CCU and based on CT and echo, we will need two types of surgeries within the next 24 hours. To place this in perspective, the doctor said that people have come into the hospital dead with this exact scenario he walked in with.

“The doctor said God has to keep him through the night and he cannot move, not even to get up to walk to a bathroom.”

During Sunday’s service at Relentless Church, Gray compelled churchgoers to worship God and pray for her husband, thanking Him for what He has done so far to preserve her husband’s life.

“Your prayers touched heaven, and God is doing some miraculous things,” she said.

Gray says “His miraculous work is still at work,” and that “there’s a long road ahead of us. My family and I stand in need of a miracle. I implore you to please maintain your prayer posture.

“Thank you all. Everyone across the globe. Let’s finish the miracle and get him back to where he needs to be. Yes, we have milestones, benchmarks and major shifts of lifestyle, but most of all, he has life and God’s breath in his soon to be uninjured lungs!”

Before moving to Greenville with his wife and two children to form Relentless Church in 2018, Pastor John served as an associate pastor at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. He also had his own reality TV series titled The Book of John Gray which aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) for three seasons.
