Evangelist Franklin Graham has called for a day of prayer for President Donald Trump on June 2.
Graham says:
Along with 250+ Christian leaders, I am asking followers of Christ across our nation to set aside next Sunday, June 2, as a special day of prayer for the President, Donald J. Trump.
President Trump’s enemies continue to try everything to destroy him, his family and the presidency. In the history of our country, no president has been attacked as he has. I believe the only hope for him, and this nation, is God.
This is a critical time for America. We’re on the edge of a precipice. Time is short. We need to pray for God to intervene. We need to ask God to protect, strengthen, encourage and guide the president.
We know that God hears and answers prayer. He can soften hearts and change minds. He is all-powerful, and He rules over the affairs of nations. The Bible instructs us to pray for those in authority, “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior” (1 Tim. 2:2–3).
On June 2, we ask that pastors would lead their congregations in praying for the president, that Sunday schools and other groups would join together and pray, and that individuals and families across the country would have a special focus on praying for the president that day.

More than 250 leaders have signed Graham’s pledge, including International House of Prayer’s Mike Bickle, Mario Bramnick of the Hispanic Israel Leadership Coalition, Matt Brown of Think Eternity, Assemblies of God Superintendent Doug Clay and James and Shirley Dobson of the James Dobson Family Institute.

As a part of my daily devotions, I regularly pray for our leaders and our nation. So, when I was asked to join with other ministry leaders in a special day of prayer for our President, I readily accepted. Prayer brings results.
2 Chronicles 7:14 clearly tells us “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” I believe that it is time that we call upon God to heal our nation. We pray for the President because Scripture mandates it and our nations great need demands it. There is no other choice. We must pray.

The reason I signed on is two fold. First I was asked by Paula White. Second, I believe there is a great and deep need to intercede for President Trump. I signed the commitment to pray for Donald Trump because Dr. Franklin Graham asked me to do so. It is a brilliant, Spirit-inspired idea. The Bible commands us to pray for all in those in authority. I prayed for President Obama every day, and I am praying for President Trump every day. I agree with Dr. Graham that we are in a moment of spiritual crisis in our country and that we should, as Christians, lift up our president in prayer and ask God to protect him and give him wisdom and guidance and direction as he seeks to lead the nation. Nothing but good can come from the concentrated prayer of Christians.
