The favor of God appears to have landed on The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Garden in Kerrville, Texas.
Last week, a rare, pure white hummingbird and $100,000 landed at the 24.5-acre spiritual art garden, located on IH-10, at the main entrance of the Hill Country town.
These two events followed a four-page feature article on the art garden, which appeared in the June 2018 issue of Charisma. In addition, in the last few weeks, the garden was also featured in a four-minute video that was broadcast on the morning TV shows at NBC 4 and FOX 27 from San Antonio. The video has now gone viral on YouTube.
Volunteer leaders of the popular Kerrville tourist attraction believe the hand of God is blessing their spiritual garden, which features over $2.5 million of original fine art, donated by three internationally collected professional Christian sculptors.
The very rare white hummingbird arrived at the cross-shaped garden on July 23 and was still hovering over The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Garden as of Aug. 20.
Thousands of photographs of the rare little bird have already been taken by dozens of garden visitors, including professional photographers. Last week, the bird was recorded by photographers from Germany and Mexico. An award-winning Swiss photographer, who does work for National Geographic Magazine, spent three days photographing the rare bird at the “God Garden.” Many people learned about the hummingbird via social media.
According to “The Beauty of Birds” website, fewer than 100 white humming birds have been sighted across the Americas. The extremely rare bird is not an albino. This bird has a black beak, eyes and feet, while albinos’ are pink.
Officials from The Coming King Foundation (TCKF, the nonprofit that runs the art garden) were told by the National Geographic photographer, who had never seen a hummingbird like this in his life, that less than a half percent of 1 in 1,000,000 humming birds have this rare coloration, which is called “leucism” or “leucistic.”
Many birdwatchers and nature photographers have come from across America and the world to catch a glimpse of the tiny white bird at the 1,930-foot cross-shaped “God Garden” in the Texas Hill Country.
“God sent this little white bird to His sculpture prayer garden to draw more visitors to ‘The Empty Cross!’ TCKF founder, artist, architect and evangelist Max Greiner Jr. says. “This is not our first miracle bird! On June 30, 2006, a pure-white dove descended in front of stunned heavy equipment operators, and then calmly walked toward the future cross location. Before that, on September 16, 2005, about a dozen wild Northern Harrier hawks circled above the planned cross location, as a sign to 22 intercessors who had come to the property to claim it for God’s Kingdom. The wild hawks were also a sign to Hershel Reid, one of the heirs to Hallmark Cards, that his family was to donate the money to buy the valuable land on IH-10. After seeing the hawks circling over his head, in answer to his ‘fleece’ prayer, Reid gave me $500,000 the next morning to buy the land!”
Kerrville is a town of about 24,000 residents. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, 13,294,030 vehicles pass the blood-colored Cor-ten steel cross on IH-10 each year. This means that approximately 34,564,478 people a year see the unique art landmark from the highway.
The garden has been Kerrville’s top year-round tourist attraction for many years. About 12,000 people a month on average now visit the garden. They come from all 50 states and over 70 countries. Most visitors say they come to experience the presence of God and to see the world-class art, landscaping and the unique 77’7-foot open-cross sculpture, called The Empty Cross. TCKF promotes this unique, $2 million contemporary sculpture as the most symbolic cross sculpture in the world.
On August 1, Port Arthur, Texas, tourist Catalina Asound wrote on the Trip Advisor website: “Breathtaking! This is truly a breathtaking and mystical experience. Of course, if you are a Christian believer, you’ll find it totally awe-inspiring. If not, I suspect you will still be awed by the sheer majesty and beauty of this enormous work of art. Words and pictures can’t begin to express the peace and love one feels when on the grounds. It captures the essence of mankind’s quest for spiritual meaning.”
In addition to the rare little bird, last week on Aug. 17, TCKF also landed a $100,000 donation from the Martha Brown Trust.
Brown was a distinguished resident of Kerrville for many years. She passed away on Nov. 23, 2017. TCKF was one of five local 501(c)(3) nonprofit charities that received a gift from her Trust Fund. TCKF hopes to use this money to finish the front entrance of the garden, and to build the Lion of Judah 10 Commandments Monument at the top of the hill.
Greiner Jr. and his wife, Sherry, are donating the larger-than-life $80,000 bronze sculpture to the garden. All the art featured in the spiritual garden has been donated by three artists and other donors who covered other costs.
