Obama Warns of ‘Historic Hurricane’ as Charities Prepare for Irene’s Wrath

President Obama issued a dire warning to those in Hurricane Irene’s path, calling it a potentially “historic hurricane.” Believers around the nation are praying for the best and bracing for the worst.

Meanwhile, Operation Blessing International is ramping up for a major relief effort if Hurricane Irene strikes the Hampton Roads, Va., area as predicted.

Headquartered in Virginia Beach, Va., the humanitarian organization’s domestic disaster relief team has pre-staged staff and equipment in order to provide disaster relief resources immediately after the storm passes and a level of support during the storm.

“Operation Blessing is a first responder to disasters all over the world, providing life sustaining resources within hours,” said Jody Herrington-Gettys, director of U.S. disaster relief for OBI. “Now we are faced with a potentially historic hurricane right here at home.”

To prepare for a rapid response, OBI has pre-staged an array of heavy equipment from Ocala, Florida at its headquarters near the Christian Broadcasting Network and Regent University campuses. OBI’s Chesapeake warehouse is stocked with some 200 cots, a 40′ X 60′ large tent, several 10 X 20 tents, food and many other supplies that will augment volunteer operations, including setting up a POD (Point of Distribution) and feeding operations.

Are you in the storm’s path? Let Charisma News know how you are preparing. We are praying for you and your families.
